The shape of the bridge is a coconut leaf, symbolizing the culture of the Southern region, with a luxurious design but also harmonious and simple. Mr. Lam added: “The bridge is designed with a space steel arch structure applied for the first time in Vietnam, promising to become a unique pedestrian structure in the world”.
The second notable content of the Saigon pedestrian bridge groundbreaking ceremony was the sharing of Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong – Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee. The Vice Chairman expressed his appreciation for the contributions of businesses, the community, and investors to the pedestrian bridge.
He also called on departments, branches, and sectors to be more active in coordinating with contractors and construction units to ensure the project’s progress. “With the desire to soon put the project into practice, we have worked hard with partners and authorities to shorten the preparation time while still ensuring quality and safety. Thanks to that, the project was started one month earlier with the approval of the city’s leaders” – he shared.

The Saigon pedestrian bridge groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a large-scale project in the city. The bridge has a total length of 720m, a width of 6 – 11mm and a clearance of 10m. The pedestrian bridge connects District 1 and Thu Duc (old District 2), specifically extending from Bach Dang Wharf to Thu Thiem Riverside Park.
